I Heart Sketches Jan 2012

This card was created using the sketch challenge provided by I Heart to Stamp.  Sketch was pretty easy to follow and came up with something pretty cute!
I was able to use a stamp set that I haven't used yet called Older & Wiser from Stampin' Up.  It is such a cute set with some fun sayings.  This one is my favorite as the front says "Your Childhood Dream has come true" and the inside reads, "you're finally older!  Happy Birthday".
I keep the insides of my cards pretty simple.  I just carried over some extra pieces of the patterned cardstock (which is Memory Boutique).  This design was pretty simple and may do a little "assembly line" and make a few more for my stash!

New Addition - Birth Announcement

This scrap page was created using my son's birth announcement (which I made!).  The announcement turned out so cute and I really loved the "construction" theme of it.  I included one of the pictures that I had sent out with the announcement.  All the colors ending up working so well together!
Here is a close up of the front of announcement.

Good For You!

This creation was based on the sketch challenge over at My Favorite Things.  Again I used some scraps and just tried to make things work!  I did okay, I'm not too happy with it, as I couldn't really agree on what I wanted the main image to be.

Here is a close up of the main image.  Stickles caused the ink to bleed a bit, but Oh Well, I am not a perfect stamper!!

Here is the info on products used:

  • Large scallop circle - Art Philosophy cricut cartridge
  • Main image - SU Figures of Speech
  • small sentiment - CTMH Express Postage (had to manipulate it, as the stamp was actually curved and I forced it to go straight which explains why it looks a little "wonky".)
  • paper - scraps (I never know what the brands are!!)
  • yellow colored pencil
  • star dust stickles

MoJo 225

This is my creation based on this weeks sketch over at MoJo Monday.  I really liked the simple block look.  I dug through my scraps and am proud to say that I was able to come up with something very cute.
The stamp I used was one from Hero Arts called "Good Long Flower".  I am embarrassed to say that I have had this stamp for YEARS and this was the first time I have ever used it!  Wow!  I colored it in using my blender pen and my ink pads and then finished off with a cute blue metallic brad.  Here's a closer look at the super cute flower.

You & Me are like Salt & Pepper

This is my post for several challenges!  This was a challenge for me because one of the challenges was to create a sketch "with a spin".  They wanted a "Non Traditional" Valentine.  And another challenge was to make an easel card.  Well this sure was a way for me to jump right into these challenges.  But I think I did alright.

The main image was a new Digi set that Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps is selling called You & Me.  This set called my name and I had to get.  I look forward to creating a lot more with this cute little set!  I added some stickles to the "salt" and chalked the "pepper".  The valentine greeting came from CTMH February Word Puzzle.  I used a couple heart brads, one was used to hang a heart with twine and the other was used as the "stopper" for the easel card.
All in all, not too bad for my first shot.  I will have to admit up front that I am not a "fancy" stamper and like to use my leftover scrapping papers to make these challenge cards.
Here is a look at the easel card from the side.
Pretty cool.  I had never made one before and am happy to add this to my arsenal of tricks!  It will surely "WOW" the receiver and they will think it was so difficult and tricky (but it wasn't).

LOOK OUT!

Look out world!  Heather has started a blog!  Mainly I just wanted a place to put my creations so that I could enter challenges and hopefully win some free stuff!  But I will also be sharing my best recipes, the ones that have been tried out on the family and they keep asking for more, so you know they are good.  There is no rhyme or reason to my posts or the regularity (or lack of) of the posts.  I am a busy gal and will put stuff up when I am able to.

I love finding fun and awesome ideas on the interweb and will share the best ones I have come across as well.

Thanks for "listening" and I hope you keep coming back.
